hirty five years ago, when Dubois, Wyoming native Pete Chimenti took his first carpenter job he never envisioned that carpentry would become his life. Pete learned to build a home from the ground up. He and the contractor he worked for did it all, from site preparation to the finest detailed finish work. Over the next few years Pete learned the trade and perfected his craft but felt restraints on his creativity, and knew his true calling was an entrepreneur.
In 1984, Pete and wife Sheryl opened their own construction business in their home town of Dubois and haven’t looked back. They have provided the Dubois area with all phases of construction from basic home repairs to building custom homes. Pete’s expertise lies in the actual building process, while Sheryl is business manager and interior designer. Working hand in hand with each client, Sheryl helps make decisions on everything from cabinetry and granite countertops, to floor coverings and paint color. Together Pete and Sheryl put their experience, knowledge, and expertise to work for their clients. They work closely with them in order to bring their client’s ideas and dreams to reality in the form of a home. Their clients often comment, “Pete and Sheryl didn’t build us a house, they built us a home”.

The Chimenti’s have built their reputation on quality building and have become recognized as the premiere contractor and builder in the Dubois area. All of their homes are custom built due to the fact that when people move to the Dubois area they want to build their “Dream Home” out west. “We can build any type or style of home, says Pete, anything from a very modest first-time home to the most elaborate log home and anything in between. One characteristic that all our homes have in common is an overall western feel.” Pete, who enjoys the creative process of building a home, says “the most rewarding part is starting with vacant land and every day watching the progress, each day stepping back and looking at what you have accomplished.” “Thank you for our beautiful home, the home you have helped us to create. The house is a wonderful reminder of your craftsmanship, attention to detail, and concern for our needs. Thank you very much.” say clients Cal and Mary.
Chimenti Contracting does remodels as well. “When Pete and I look at an older home we can see all its possibilities and we feed off of each others ideas. It is exciting to bring new life to an old home by removing a wall, adding a window, or just adding some accents. The true satisfaction hits you when you compare the before and after photos. Wow, what a great feeling to know that you were a part of someone’s dream and helped it become a reality,” says Sheryl.
“I love it here and appreciate your great craftsmanship.” says Diane of her newly remodeled home. Pete and Sheryl feel they have been blessed, they have been able to live and raise their now grown boys in a small western community, they have built a
successful construction business, and in doing so they have met many wonderful people and have not only developed working relationships, but lifelong friendships along the way.
They have a deep love for Dubois and the people who live there. In the words of Pete’s father, “We live where you vacation.”
